• CHILD ORIENTED FACILITY

The Alliance is located in a facility that is designed to provide each child with an open, non-threatening, non-institutional environment. All services are provided and coordinated at this one location.

  • MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TEAM (MDT) APPROACH

The Multi-disciplinary Team Approach is a group of professionals working together to investigate allegations of child abuse, while insuring that the best interests of the child victims are being served. This is a team approach that includes the vital resources of law enforcement, child protective services, the Prosecutor’s office, medical personnel, and mental health professionals. Each child’s case that is serviced by the Alliance is staffed by the Multi- disciplinary Team, and all referrals must come through law enforcement or child protective services. The Alliance and members of MDT strive to discover the facts in each investigation; whether these facts serve to exonerate the innocent or prosecute the guilty.

  • INTERVIEW

Each child’s interview is conducted in an age appropriate room, with emphasis on the child’s comfort, minimal number of interviews, and proper evidence collection. The interviews are conducted by a forensic interviewer with specific training to interview child victims.

  • THERAPEUTIC SERVICES

The Alliance is committed to providing each child with needed treatment by making referrals to counselors and therapists who have experience and training in working with abused children.

  • MEDICAL SERVICES

Necessary medical exams will be coordinated through the Alliance. Sexual assault examinations are conducted by a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) nurse who is specifically trained to do these types of exams using a child-sensitive procedure. Sexual assault exams in Angelina County are done at Memorial Health Systems of East Texas and Woodland Heights Medical Center.
